Congratulations to our new CMS School Choice principals!

John Cline was named principal at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Virtual High. He has been the principal at Washington High in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, since 2017. Cline was an assistant principal at South Mecklenburg High from 2013 to 2017, a teacher at Myers Park High from 2003 to 2007 and 2008 to 2013 and Providence High in 2001. He was also a teacher at C.D. Owen High in Buncombe County Schools from 2007 to 2008, Piedmont High in Union County Public Schools in 2003 and a high school rebound instructor at Davidson River School in Transylvania County Schools from 2001 to 2003. Cline received a bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in school administration from Queens University of Charlotte.

Paula Cook was named principal at Cochrane Collegiate Academy. She has been the assistant principal at West Charlotte High since 2016. Cook was a dean from 2015 to 2016 and academic facilitator from 2013 to 2015 at West Charlotte. She was a teacher at Independence High from 2010 to 2013 and Harding University High from 2003 to 2010. Cook received her bachelor’s degree in sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her master’s degree in teaching special education and certificate in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Tracey Hager was named principal at Lansdowne IB Elementary. She has been an assistant principal at Mallard Creek since 2017. She was an assistant principal at Blythe Elementary from 2013 to 2017, Merry Oaks Elementary from 2008 to 2013 and University Meadows Elementary from 2007 to 2008 and a principal intern at University Meadows Elementary from 2006 to 2007. She was a teacher at Joseph W. Grier Academy from 2003 to 2005 and facilitator from 2001 to 2003 and a teacher from 1994 to 2001 at Devonshire Elementary. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Johnson C. Smith University and master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
