Lydia Fergison was named as the new principal of the North K-8 Language Academy during the CMS Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She has been serving as the principal at Newell Elementary since 2015. Before that, she was the Assistant Principal at Albemarle Road Elementary from 2012 to 2015, an instructor at CPCC from 2012 to 2014, and a Spanish teacher at McClintock Middle School from 2003 to 2012.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. In addition to her many educational accomplishments, she has also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain!
