The 3rd graders at Rea Farms STEAM Academy closed out the school year in a major way! They sprang into action to help raise funds to build a well in Africa!
Here’s why- Nearly one billion people do not have access to clean, safe water – that’s the equivalent of 1 in 8 people on the planet.
Here’s how- Students in third grade were studying about this issue in their language arts classes studies and special area teachers extended their studies by helping to develop this project. Students worked together to make a difference and provide clean drinking water to an African community in need by raising over $3000 for a well through the organization, Hydrating Humanity. They did various projects to promote the fundraiser and participated in a walk-a-thon, either in person, or remotely, to represent the challenge of obtaining clean water in developing nations.Special recognition to RFSA’s amazing special area team and third grade teachers, who made this Project Based Learning endeavor a huge success!
